2006 Daily Prayers Toward a Greater Pentecost

Day 1- May 25
The Kingdom of Christ
The Transforming Power of Christ’s Kingdom

Father, as members of the Body of Christ from all the nations of the world, we pray that Your Kingdom would come and Your Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. From all the nations of the world we will speak of the glory of Your Kingdom and talk of Your power and make known to the sons of men your mighty deeds and Your glorious majesty.

Father, forgive us for being so focused on our own needs and on building our own kingdoms while we forget to build Your Kingdom. Lord Jesus, we pray that we as Your Church, will follow Your example and focus on Your Kingdom and not on individual elements of the Kingdom, that we will desire nothing but the advancement of this glorious Kingdom, that we are privileged to be part of.

Father, You have raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at your right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in this present age but also in the age to come. We bow our knees and acknowledge the authority of the Name of Jesus and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

We as your Church acknowledge, with gratitude, that You, because of Your great love with which You loved us even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ and raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Lord, we pray that You will open the eyes of our hearts so that we may know the hope to which You have called us and the riches of Your glorious inheritance in us, the saints, and Your incomparable great power for us who believe. May our love abound more and more in knowledge and all discernment that we may approve the things that are excellent and that we may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ’s return.

Father, we confess that we are not diligent in taking the Gospel of the Kingdom into the dark places of the world. We pray that you will impart to us the passion of the early Church and that it will be the love of Christ that controls us and urges us on to fulfill the purpose that you have created us for and to do the good works that You prepared beforehand that we should walk in.

Thank you, Lord, that the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit that was given to us. Please teach us to communicate Your love to the masses in our cities who are in need of the transforming love of Christ.

Day 2- May 26
United Prayer
For sustained movements of united prayer

Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you that the Church was birthed almost 2000 years ago on the day of Pentecost through a baptism of fire. Thank you that you kept your promise by pouring out your Spirit on all flesh. Father, we pray that You will give us grateful hearts for the privilege of living in this time when Your Holy Spirit is given to teach, guide and comfort us.

Thank you that through Your Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Adoption, we can know You and call You Abba Father, and that You have not left us alone but have given us a Helper. Thank you that You had sealed our redemption by the Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of the inheritance waiting for us and that we are being sanctified through the Spirit.

As the Church in all the nations of the world, we confess that there is one Body, One Spirit, One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in us all. As the Church in the Book of Acts were with one mind continually devoting themselves to prayer, we pray that this generation of the Church in the nations of the world, will be like-minded toward one another, that we may with one mind and one mouth glorify our Lord Jesus Christ through prayer.

Teach us, Father, to accept one another just as Christ accepted us, so we will bring praise to Your Name. Lord Jesus, we confess that our lack of unity as a Body is contrary to Your prayer that we will be one as You and the Father are one. We realize that it is because the world cannot see this unity among us as Your Body, that they do not believe that the Father sent You. Please forgive us.

We confess our selfishness and conceit and we humble ourselves before You and ask You to help us to esteem other people as better than ourselves. Teach us, Lord, as we come together in prayer, to be of one mind, having compassion for one another, to love as brothers, to be tenderhearted and courteous, not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary to bless, so that we may also receive a blessing.

Lord Jesus, help us to have a walk worthy of the calling with which we were called, with all lowliness and longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Lord, You gave us the commandment to love one another, because all will know that we are Your disciples if we have love for one another. We admit that we fail You in this regard. Have mercy on us.

Day 3- May 27
The Spirit of Christ
For God to pour out His Spirit on all

Thank You Father, that on the day of Pentecost almost 2000 years ago, the Church was birthed through a baptism of fire when You kept Your promise and poured out You Spirit on all flesh. Thank You Lord, that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is proof that You have accepted the offer Jesus made to reconcile us with You and that He is exalted to Your right hand. Thank You that the Holy Spirit is the guarantee of the inheritance that is waiting for us and that through Him we are being sanctified.

Thank You that through Your Spirit, the Spirit of Adoption, we can know You and call You Abba Father and that You have not left us alone, but gave us a Helper tot teach us and guide us into all truth. Thank You for washing and cleansing and strengthening us through Your Spirit so that we can truly become Your dwelling place. Please forgive us for the many times we have grieved and quenched the Holy Spirit or refused to submit to Your ways. Protect us from speaking against, rebelling or lying to the Holy Spirit.

Thank you, Lord, that you gave the Church power through the Holy Spirit to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all the nations of the world and to be living witnesses for Your Glory. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for giving us wisdom and boldness to share the Gospel with all people, even with those in authority. Give us even more boldness to speak the truth in times of persecution. Help us to remember that the Spirit will give us the right words when we are threatened about our faith. Thank you that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power and self-control.

Thank you for the gifts of the Holy Spirit which testifies of your desire for all people to know Your Word. Thank you Lord that the gifts, the manifestation of the Spirit, are given to each one of us for the profit of all, for by one Spirit we have been baptized into one Body and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. Give us a genuine desire to receive these gifts.

Lord Jesus you said regarding the Holy Spirit; he who believes in me, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. Please let this Living Water of the Spirit flow out of Your Church to quench the thirst for You and bring life to the nations of the world. Let the fruit of Your Spirit be visible in and through our lives. Father, please pour out a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit on Your Church so that the world will see Your mighty works revealed in Your Body.

Day 4- May 27
Repentance
For many to turn from sin to new life in Christ

O Lord our God, You are a great and awesome God. You keep your covenant of mercy with those who love You, and with those who live according to Your commandments. All righteousness belongs to You, but to us belong shame because of the unfaithfulness we have committed against You. We and the generations of our fathers have sinned and committed iniquity, but to You belong mercy and forgiveness. Please hear the prayers of Your servants.

We, the followers of Jesus Christ in the nations of the world, stand before You today, and we plead for Your mercy and grace upon us and our nations. You are gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness. Lord as we turn to You with all our hearts and all our souls, we pray that You will give us godly sorrow that will produce repentance, and will lead to salvation and life. Let this repentance produce in us a real desire to be cleansed from our wicked ways, and lead us to fear and respect You. Create in us a desire and zeal to live according to Your ways and let us bear the fruits worthy of repentance and do works that befit a repentant heart.

Lord, You have no pleasure in the death of the wicked and You say in Your Word; “Let the wicked forsake his ways and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord and He will have mercy and He will abundantly pardon. Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You came to earth to pardon sinners. Please grant even those who are in opposition to You repentance, so that they too may know the truth, come to their senses and escape the snares of the devil. Let there be much joy in heaven over many sinners who repent and turn to You.

Lord Jesus Christ, You have given us the command to preach repentance and forgiveness of sins in Your Name, to all the nations of the world. Please give us the words and fill us with boldness so that no-one will be able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which we speak. Holy Spirit, come and convict the world of their sin of unbelief; of the righteousness that is to be found in Jesus, and of the fact that Satan, the ruler of this world, is judged.

Father, it is Your goodness and kindness that leads us to repentance. We love You because You first loved us and demonstrated Your love towards us in that Christ died for us while we were still sinners. Let the knowledge of this truth cut the hearts of sinners and turn them back to You.

Day 5-  May 29
The Peace of Christ
For relationships to be Transformed

Lord Jesus Christ, You are the Head of the Church, Your Body. You are the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead and in everything You are supreme. It pleased the Father to let all His fullness dwell in You and to reconcile all things to Himself through You, making peace through Your blood shed on the cross. Thank you Lord, that we who once were alienated in our minds by wicked works, You have reconciled with the Father and present us holy and blameless and irreproachable in His sight.

Father, as You reconciled us to You in Christ, You also committed to us the ministry of reconciliation. Teach us how we can bring others into harmony with You through our words and deeds and be worthy ambassadors for You, taking the Gospel of peace to the world. As Gentile nations we thank You for making us fellow heirs with Israel and members of the same body and partakers of the promise in Christ through the Gospel.

Lord, You composed the Body in such a way that there should be no division, but that the members should have the same care for one another and if one member suffers all suffer with it, or if one is honored all the members rejoice with it; but Lord, we have thought of ourselves more highly than we ought to. We confess that we have become puffed up with our own ideas and we lost connection with You, the Head of the Body, causing the Body to suffer and not grow up into maturity.

Forgive us for not obeying Your command that we should love our neighbor as ourselves and in love serve one another. May we as Your Body be one as You and the Father are one, and may the world know that we are Your disciples when they see the love we have for one another.

Father, restore to us as the Church, the joy of Your salvation, so that the relationships among Christians will be marked by joy, love and gladness of heart and cause the Church to enjoy favor in the communities. Restore us as Your Body to the purpose You had for us from creation. May Your Name be praised as we accept one another in unity, for it is when brothers dwell together in unity where You command Your blessing.

Father we confess that we live self-centered lives with little regard for those who suffer or are in need. We pray for Your peace to come into the lives of those suffering because of wars and strife. Father, we come in the Name of Jesus against destructive forces of evil causing these wars and suffering and we speak the peace of Christ into these situations..

Day 6- May 30
The Coming Generation
For God’s Purpose for Families and Children

Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we bow our knees before You from whom every family on earth is named. We as the families of the world give You the honor due Your Name and we will say among the nations; “The Lord reigns! He shall judge the peoples righteously.” Your promise to Abraham was that through him all families of the earth shall be blessed. You have indeed blessed us by sending Your Son to die on the cross so that we may be reconciled to You.

Father, we ask You to bring reconciliation and healing to the families of the world. We acknowledge and confess that most of the pain families experience is because of our own sinful ways. We confess that we have not lived according to Your standards in our marriages, in bringing up our children and in caring for the fatherless. Please forgive us.

We have ignored Your command that husbands are to love their wives as Jesus loves the Church, and that wives should submit to their own husbands as unto the Lord, for the husband is the head of the wife as also Christ is the head of the Church. We pray that our marriages will be a true reflection of Your relationship with the Church so that You will receive the glory through our lives.

We also confess that we as children are disobedient to our parents and we do not honor them as You commanded us to do. We as fathers and mothers confess that we have not set examples for our children as to godly lifestyles. We have caused them to stumble and provoked them to anger, and by not giving You the glory due to You in our relationships and attitudes, we caused our children to be rebellious and unfaithful to You. Father, we need Your healing and cleansing, please come and wash us with Your Word. Let our children once again be an inheritance from the Lord and bring joy to our hearts.

Lord Jesus, You invited the children to come to You and promised that the Kingdom of God belong to them. Let this promise reach all the children who are abandoned and without families. Teach us as the Body of Christ, to reach out and care for the millions of children orphaned and left destitute because of HIV/AIDS.

Please forgive the older generation that we neglected our duty to properly care for those entrusted to us and caused hurt and destruction in the lives of many children. We pray that this generation will turn back to You and bring glory to Your Name and that the children of this generation will turn to You at an early age and that You will empower them to proclaim the Gospel to the next generation so that they in turn will grow up to praise Your Name.

Day 7- May 31
The Call of God
For the nations to hear the voice of God

Our Father in Heaven, we join with the heavenly hosts and with the Psalmist to give unto You the glory due to Your Name. We worship you in the glory of Your beauty and holiness. Your voice is over the waters, Your voice is powerful and full of majesty and it breaks the cedars. Your voice divides the flames of fire and shakes the wilderness. Your voice makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare. In Your temple, the Church, every one says, “Glory!”

Father, You spoke and there was light, and You sent Your Son into our dark world to give us light because He is the true Light. Father, Your voice from heaven commanded us to listen to Your Son, Jesus Christ, who told us that He is a Good Shepherd and that we as His sheep will know His voice. Lord Jesus, help us to really hear Your voice and to be obedient when we do hear Your voice. Please forgive us for the times when we heard Your voice, but did not pay attention or was disobedient and did not do what You told us. Purify us and cleanse us from unbelief so that we will react in faith to Your Voice.

We pray that the nations of the world will hear Your voice and that those who do not know You, or care to obey You, will see Your power and bow before you. Father, You gave us the power of the Holy Spirit to enable us to go out and be Your witnesses to the un-reached nations of the world and yet there are still millions who have not heard the Gospel. Forgive us Lord, for hardening our hearts to Your voice, when You call us as Your Church to take the Good News of Salvation in Christ to the lost.

Open our spiritual ears to receive the messages You want to give through Your Church. Give us Your words so that we will become Your voice to speak to governments and leaders, to teach help them to walk in Your Ways. We pray for Your Word to be made available to all the language groups who do not have the Bible translated into their heart languages. Lord Jesus, You have redeemed us to God by Your Blood out of every tongue and tribe and people and nation. The Church has the responsibility to take this message to those afar off. Have mercy on us, Lord, for not taking up this responsibility as we should.

Lord, it is the time for the awakening of the Bride. Let the Church hear the voice of the Bridegroom and open her heart for You. Help us to draw so close to You that we will hear the desires of Your heart and give ourselves in Your service.

Day 8- June 1
The Glory of Jesus
In the faithful courage of His people

Lord Jesus Christ, You have called us to follow in Your foot steps, even in suffering. You were reviled and suffered injustice, but You never retaliated, choosing instead to entrust Yourself to the Father who will do justice. Through Your suffering we received forgiveness for our sins and through Your obedience and willingness to suffer we were declared righteous. Thank you for carrying our sorrows, for being wounded and bruised so that we may have peace with God the Father and may receive everlasting life.

Lord, You called  those who are persecuted for righteousness sake “blessed”, and urged us to rejoice and be exceedingly glad when they say all kinds of evil against us for Your Name’s sake; for great is our reward in heaven. Jesus, help us to be of the same mind as You are, so that we will live for the will of God, even if that should include suffering. Give us the grace to be able to rejoice like the early Church, because we are counted worthy to suffer for Your Name’s sake. Lord, we realize that the suffering of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed in us.

Help us to say like the apostle Paul, “All we want is to know You, the power of Your resurrection and the fellowship of Your suffering, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.” Make us willing to suffer for the sake of the Church, so that Your glory will be revealed in us. Help us to learn obedience from the things we suffer. Give us boldness to speak Your word even when we are threatened and persecuted. Forgive us for the times we were ashamed or afraid to testify of You.

Lord, we pray for those brothers and sisters in Christ who suffer persecution, that You will perfect, strengthen and establish them. Help them to say, “When we are cursed we bless, when we are persecuted, we endure it, when we are slandered we answer kindly. Yes, we are hard pressed but not crushed, perplexed, but not in despair, persecuted but not abandoned, struck down but not destroyed. Although we carry around in our bodies the death of Jesus Christ, the life of Jesus will also be revealed in us.”

We pray for those who are persecuting Your Church that they will have an encounter with You, and like Paul, stop resisting You and begin to declare Your Name and Your Glory among their own people. We pray for government leaders for godly wisdom in managing the affairs of their countries in such a way, that they will not be found fighting against You by the laws they make.

Lord have Your way in our lives.

Day 9- June 2
The Healing of Christ
For Christ to bring substantial healing

Praise the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name! It is He who forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases.

Yahweh-Rapha, You are God our HEALER. Father, You promised Your people that when they cry out to You in their trouble You will send Your Word and heal them.
You sent the Living Word. You have given us Your Son, Jesus Christ to bear our griefs and carry our sorrows. He was pierced for our transgressions, and He was bruised for our iniquities. The punishment for our peace was on Him, and by His wounds we were healed. You have anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power to peach the Gospel of the Kingdom and to heal all kinds of sickness and disease among the people, also those who were demon possessed, epileptics and paralytics. The sun of Righteousness has truly risen with healing in his wings.

Lord Jesus, You were anointed to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed. We need Your healing touch today as never before. Please heal the brokenhearted in our communities, proclaim liberty to those who are enslaved by sin and open the prison doors for those who are bound by addiction, self-imposed bondages and spiritual strongholds.

Lord, in the early Church many signs and wonders were done through the hands of the apostles. Sick people were brought into the streets that the shadow of Peter passing by would fall on them, and everywhere the apostles went sick people and those tormented by unclean spirits, were healed. Lord, we come to You as your modern-day servants and ask that You will stretch out Your hand through the Holy Spirit so that signs and wonders may be done in Your Name. Fill us anew with Your Spirit, so that we will reach out with boldness to a world in need of healing. Lord, reveal Your healing power through Your Church.

Father, You promised that if we who are called by Your Name will humble ourselves and pray and seek Your face and turn from our wicked ways, then You will hear from heaven and forgive our sins and heal our land. Lord, the nations are in need of healing. Fulfill Your promise and bring healing as we humble ourselves before you and join in united prayer to seek Your face and turn from our wicked ways. Please give us a new heart and a new spirit. Take out the hearts of stone and give us hearts of flesh. Put Your Spirit in us and cause us to walk in Your ways. Wash away our filth and cleanse us with Your Spirit of Judgment and Burning

Day 10- June 3
The Blessing of Christ
For promised blessing among all peoples
The Fulfillment of all God’s promises in His Word

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Lord, by Your Word the heavens were made, and you uphold all things by the power of your Word. Your Word is alive and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Lord, every Word that goes out of Your mouth will not return to You void, but will accomplish what pleases You and prosper in the thing for which You send it.

Thank You, Lord, that You reveal Yourself through Your Word. Open our minds so that we will understand the Word and give us a Spirit of wisdom and revelation to know You. Your Word is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path. Direct our steps by Your Word and let no iniquity have dominion over us. Lord, You have the Words of eternal life and  we live from every Word that comes from Your mouth. Teach us to hide Your Word in our hearts that we might not sin against You. Thank You Lord that Your Word cleanses us, heals us and delivers us from destruction. We, as Your Church, put our hope and trust in Your Word.

You entire Word is truth and all Your judgments endure forever. Your Words are pure, like silver tried in a furnace and we can trust You because Your Word is proven. Your Words are sweet to the taste; when we eat them they bring joy to our hearts. By Your words we are warned and in keeping them there is great reward.

Lord, let Your Word dwell richly in Your Church so that we can teach and encourage others. May their souls be converted through the truth of the Word. May we know what Your commands and judgments are, and live from every Word that comes from Your mouth, and by Your Word be able to keep Your statutes and overcome the evil one. Lord, we repent that we so often do not realize that the Words that You have given us is Spirit and life. Give us a desire for the pure milk of the Word so that we can grow spiritually.
Lord, please, establish Your Word in our cities and nations, let it grow mightily and prevail. May the truth of Your Word burn away all corruption and greed from the hearts of people.

Thank You Lord Jesus, that by keeping Your statutes and commands, we will at the great Day of the Lord, see You, the Word of God, coming in Your glory, to take possession of Your Kingdom. You are King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
